Useful tips

Comfortable Boarding

Capitan Morgan Srl does not offer "fast track" services or priority boarding options on its vessels. To avoid congestion at the ports, especially during peak holiday seasons and high-traffic times, we recommend purchasing your tickets and boarding passes well in advance (on the day of departure, at least 30 minutes before boarding).

We also advise checking the exact location of your departure pier with your Travel Agency, accredited Tour Operator, or directly at the port ticket offices.

Access on Board

Every passenger getting ready to board must wait for authorization from the crew members stationed at the gangway.

Because tickets are never sold in excess of our vessels' actual maximum capacity, a seat on board is guaranteed for everyone. Therefore, pushing, rushing, or crowding to secure a specific seat is unnecessary and highly unsafe.

⚠️ Gangway Safety Rules: Passengers must maintain a safe distance of at least 2 meters from the gangway prior to boarding. Even with a firm and secure mooring, wave motion can cause sudden movements of the access ramp, creating a risk of injury or crushing to lower limbs.

In Case of Seasickness

If you are prone to motion or seasickness, following these tips before boarding and during your cruise can be very helpful:

  • Avoid boarding immediately after consuming large amounts of liquids (or drink very moderately).
  • Eat starchy foods like bread or plain biscuits, which help absorb excess gastric juices caused by nausea.
  • Position yourself toward the back of the vessel (the stern), where pitching movements are significantly reduced.
  • Sit facing forward, in the direction of travel, and breathe deeply.
  • Avoid reading or looking at screens during the journey.
  • If possible, choose the open-air decks for better ventilation.

Over-the-counter anti-nausea pills or chewing gums are widely available. As these are medications, they must be taken in strict accordance with the instructions on the packaging. Please note that onboard staff do not carry medical supplies for sale or general distribution to passengers.

🐾 Traveling with Pets: Remember to regularly monitor and comfort your pet during rougher sea conditions to keep them calm.

Sunlight Exposure

While enjoying the open-air decks is one of the best parts of the cruise, the refreshing sea breeze can mask the true intensity of the sun. Long crossings can cause sunburn if precautions are not taken.

  • We strongly advise using protective sunscreen, wearing a hat, and putting on sunglasses.
  • Wear light-colored, lightweight clothing and stay consistently hydrated throughout the trip.
  • Pay extra attention to small children.
🐾 Traveling with Pets: Ensure your animals are always kept in shaded areas and have access to fresh water to stay properly hydrated.

Excursion Tips

Most tours and transfers offered by Capitan Morgan are designed for discovery and exploration. To fully enjoy your day ashore, we recommend that you:

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes.
  • Bring a hat, sunglasses, and light-colored clothing, especially during the hot summer months.
  • Pack a lightweight raincoat (k-way) or a compact travel umbrella.
  • Always keep a bottle of water handy.
  • Pay close attention to the schedules and mooring points communicated by the crew for disembarkation and re-boarding.
🐾 Traveling with Pets: When on land, remember that you are legally required to carry a pet hygiene kit (scooper and waste bags), a leash, and a muzzle.

Inside the Lounges

Capitan Morgan vessels operating on routes to Ventotene, Ponza, Capri, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, and Naples feature spacious indoor lounges equipped with air conditioning.

Therefore, even during high season with very hot outdoor temperatures, we suggest bringing a light sweater or a scarf to protect yourself from the sudden change in temperature when moving indoors.
